Statement
My main interest is creating three-dimensional objects. Using a variety of mate-
rials, including Italian poplar plywood, leather, and a variety of papers. I am
exploring the relationship of balance and stability to create sculpture as well as
creating two-dimensional works on paper.
Biography
Nancy Shapiro balances parallel careers as a fine artist and graphic designer.
Born in Brooklyn, NY she now lives and works in New York City. After receiving
her BFA from Boston University, she returned to New York City to pursue a career
in graphic design and established Nancy Shapiro Design Consultants, Inc, a firm
specializing in package and graphic design for Clinique Laboratories, Inc. /
Clinique Laboratories, Inc. International; Estée Lauder, Inc.; Canyon Ranch; di
Rosa Preserve; Music in The Vineyards; Oak Canyon Ranch, and Schroeder Vine-
yard.
Nancy continued with fine art studies by attending courses at The Brooklyn
Museum School, The International Center of Photography, School of Visual Arts,
Napa Valley College, the National Academy School, New York. Her sculpture,
paintings, and collages can be found in public and private art collections in the
United States and abroad; her art has been exhibited in numerous exhibitions
worldwide, including National Academy Museum, New York, NY; Sonia Gechtoff
Gallery, NY, NY; Donna Seager Gallery, San Rafael, CA; Biennial 2009 Sonoma
